Our beauty emporium, nestled in a buzzing precinct in Umhlanga Ridge, is brimming with delicious dichotomies. To define Buff is difficult because, the moment you do, we become too serious. Yes, we’re serious about what we do but our space incorporates quirky components and magical elements that flutter between wonder and whimsy. Think kitcheree framed in pseudo-fancy gold art deco livery, with a little slap in the face from bright irreverence. The result is an evocative sensory experience countered with slick professional treatments delivered by passionate staff in candy striper-styled pinafores.
Buff’s Umhlanga beauty salon is unapologetically about grooming for girls AND guys (we know how fantastic it makes you feel and, if you’re happy, we’re happy) from precision waxing to perfectly polished nails and glowing skin. We steadfastly believe that there is value for money at every price point, so we use only premium products in all our treatments.
It took three fun years to create the brand and it was a light bulb moment when we decided that sexy, sultry, iconic Betty Boop was our retro point of reference. You’ll find a life-size Betty replica in-store where she poses on a red carpet and is the perfect selfie buddy! We’re flattered by queries of Buff being an international concept, but we’re even prouder that it was born, bred and brought to life in Durban.

HANDS + FEET
We believe in using only professional, results-driven products that have been purpose made for manicures and pedicures … which is why we call them hand facials and foot facials. We always have the latest OPI colour collections available and, if it’s nail art you are after, we’ve got you covered!
WAXING
Precision waxing is performed using vegan hot wax that is hypo-allergenic and suitable for sensitive skins. We use Naked Cherry’s professional waxing range and offer their home care that covers everything from ingrown hairs to brightening and plumping serums for intimate areas.
FACE + BODY
Dermalogica is the number one professional skin care brand in the world but we use it exclusively because we know it delivers results. And isn’t that what you want from your skin care treatment? We may be a beauty parlour but we also give a fabulous massage.
GUYS
The Workshop is an area dedicated to guys where they can explore grooming in an environment where they feel at ease. Inspired by a garage workshop, manicures and pedicures are done in a barber chair while facials, massage and waxing are undertaken discreetly in a treatment room.
KIDS
We love our young clients – they are sassy, super cool and know exactly what they want. From the ages of three to thirteen, they revel in having treatments with their moms, celebrating birthdays with friends and spending their pocket money on our perfect-for-princesses retail items.
FUNCTIONS
Come down the rabbit hole and into our Alice In Wonderland-inspired function room, The Salon. It is an intimate, secret space that can be rented out for soirées. You don’t even need any décor for your events – this is attention to detail in the extreme.
RETAIL
Our carefully curated retail lines are as much for personal therapy as they are for unique gifting. Owners Tracy, Debbie and Kim personally select everything so it’s a combo of things they absolutely love and items they think you should not live without. Naturally, everything that can be tried and tested has been!
